Knot work interlacings are peculiar to the Pictish school of Celtic Art. The intricate, mathematical and abstract designs exist because the imitation of the works of God (whichever one) was forbidden. Until the Christian era even vegetation was forbidden as motif to the Pict.
As a symbol of continuity, interlacing knot work is found on stones, metal work, and manuscripts. Differing geographical areas have distinctly differing styles, just as there is handwriting and clothes today.
The Celtic Knot designs available are: -
Celtic Knot Square. Shown as dark
brown on green, this design can also be supplied as dark brown against a tan
background as shown for the Rim design below.

Celtic Rim Knot. Again, we can
supply in various colour combinations but will supply as shown unless otherwise
specified.

Kells Celtic Knot. This design is
taken from the Book of Kells where it is used as a margin embellishment. We only
supply this design as self coloured but can supply it in black if required.
